Amongst the many checks it can carry out, the Verify transform can check columns of values to see if they are valid IBAN numbers.
An IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a standardized format for identifying bank accounts across national borders, primarily used for international transactions.
You can choose to keep or remove rows with invalid IBAN numbers.
A valid IBAN number must:
- start with a valid 2 letter country code (e.g. ‘GB’ for Great Britain)
- be followed by a number of digit or letter characters determined by the country code
- have upper case letters if case sensitive is checked
- have 2 valid IBAN checksum digits (computed from the other characters)
Spaces are ignored.
Note that it does not check if the bank account actually exists.
Examples of valid IBAN account numbers are:
GB82WEST12345698765432IE64 IRCE 9205 0112 3456 78
