Things have been quiet for the last few months, because we have been busy completely redesigning and rewriting the core of Easy Data Transform. This was necessary to fix some issues related to how changes in column options propagate downstream. So you can now change a column option and be confident that it won’t cause unexpected changes elsewhere.
A side benefit of the rewrite is that you can now (mostly) disconnect and reconnect items, without losing column related options!
We think the new design makes Easy Data Transform much more robust.
We have also fixed some other bugs.
Easy Data Transform v1.46.6 is now available for Windows and Mac. Find out more and download the new version from the release page:
Note that this is a snapshot release of a work in progress, not a production release. We have run the new version through a huge battery of regression tests, and it produces exactly the same results as v1.46.5. But we have made a lot of internal changes and there might still be bugs that we haven’t found and fixed yet. We are releasing this snapshot to newsletter subscribers so that you can try it and send us feedback. Please let us know what you think.
We hope to put out a production release soon.
We didn’t want to force customers to buy v2 to get bug fixes. So we are releasing these changes as part of v1. But we have also been working on Easy Data Transform v2, in parallel. See this previous newsletter for v2 teasers. More news on v2 in future.
