How to do one hot and multi hot encoding


One hot encoding turns a column of categorical or text values into columns of 1s and 0s. It is typically used for restructuring data for use in machine learning models. For example:

Multi hot encoding is used when there can ne multiple values per row. For example:

Note that repeated values (such as ‘Bob’, in the last row) are ignored in multi hot encoding. If you want to count repeated values, you can use count vectorization:
